Country’s leading conglomerate PRAN-RFL Group won seven national export trophies, including three gold ones, for its outstanding contribution in the export segment for the 2021-22 fiscal year.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the prizes to PRAN-RFL Group at a programme organised by the Ministry of Commerce at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday, according to a press release.
PRAN-RFL Group received the awards as the country’s top exporter for the last 21 back-to-back years. The group also set a record by winning three gold trophies in a single fiscal year.
The group bagged all the awards in the agro-processing sector category. Habiganj Agro Ltd, PRAN Agro Ltd, and PRAN Foods Ltd obtained gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively.
Allplast Bangladesh Ltd and Banga Plastic International Ltd of RFL Group got gold and bronze trophies respectively in the plastic goods sector. Durable Plastic Ltd received gold trophy in melamine sector while Rangpur Metal Industries Ltd got bronze trophy in light engineering sector.
In the programme, PRAN-RFL Group Chairman and CEO Ahsan Khan Chowdhury received the gold trophies on behalf of Habiganj Agro and Allplast Bangladesh from the PM.
AKM Moinul Islam Moin and Saiful Islam Sikder, executive directors of the group, received trophies on behalf of PRAN Agro and PRAN Foods respectively.
RN Paul, managing director of RFL Group, received the awards on behalf of Durable Plastic, Banga Plastic and Rangpur Metal Industries.
Chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury said, “Bangladesh is aiming for hundreds of billions of dollars in export revenue in the coming years by emphasising export diversification. So, we have to focus more on potential sectors besides the ready-made garments.”
“PRAN-RFL Group has been working hard on export diversification and is beginning to see success. This year, PRAN-RFL Group has been recognised in four categories, which is a great pleasure for us. We are hopeful that export trophies will come in more sectors very soon,” he added.
